SS Ep.1- Protein Powder
What is protein powder? Protein powder is a powdered form of protein that often comes from plants like soybeans, peas, rice potatoes or hemp. It can also come from eggs or milk. Alongside are often artificial products like flavouring, vitamins, minerals and sweeteners.
What is it for? Protein is a macronutrient used to build and recover muscles. When a muscle is placed under related stress they sustain micro tear. Protein aids in the recovery process and then causes growth giving you bigger muscle mass.
Why should I use it? Everyone can gain enough protein through their diet. However, it may not be achievable or practical. Using protein powder as a supplement can be a practical of ensuring you gain the adequate amount of protein to support muscle repair and growth.
Should I get some? If you feel that you aren’t seeing the growth you should have or aren’t recovering from your training maybe you aren’t meeting your protein requirements. Then supplementing protein powder would be an appropriate and practical way of achieving your needs but it is not necessary or essential in your fitness journey!!
